So after quite a hiatus I am back. I finally finished my first grad class while working full time (not fun - fulfilling, but definetly not fun) and nearly completed all the work that piled up while I wrote a 17page term paper and 12 page final while reading Walt Whitman.
However, here are some fun little poems Gene and I created as example for my sophomores tomorrow. They are studying found poetry, and these are the found poems Gene and I wrote for them.
This is one of mine based on the horoscopes printed in the Des Moines Register for 12/18/2006:
Perception is sharpened
So get cooking
Assert your independence
Be the cheerleader
Changing it forever
You’ll get there
Qualified to handle
The mysterious lure
Being gloriously open-minded
Hold the question
By its bootstrap
A favorable day
This is another one of mine based on the last three paragraphs from Carolyn Hax's advice column "Tell Me All About It" also printed in the Des Moines Register on 12/18/2006

These are three of Gene's based on articles from The Weekly World News and The Globe tabloids:
About the JonBenet Ramsey murder:
pageant princess’s murder
PATSY
Found in the basement –
Dancing and singing
As a cowgirl
Captivated
Chilled
From the Weekly World News:
Pixies aren’t pansies!
Effete, tinkling
Wee sissies
Impishness threatens
Pixie bouncers
Stand on your chin
And knock your teeth out.
Again from the Weekly World News:
Splanchma, a goat
Beloved by millions
Bleated popular songs
In the milking parlor
Tragedy
He tried to eat my cereal
But slipped into the wood fire
He was souvlaki beforeI could get to him.
